Norfolk Young Farmers Turkey Sculpture Challenge

02 January 2017

On Sunday 27th November we had the privilege of judging the Turkey Sculpture Challenge at Easton College, run by the Norfolk Young Farmers.

10 different clubs in Norfolk, including Dereham, North Walsham, Reepham, Loddon and Downham Market, entered a turkey made of scrap metal and other items, in the hope to become this year’s winner. The judging was based on criteria such as creativity, authenticity and craft skills.

Deciding on a winner was incredibly difficult due to the high standard of entries, but the winner showed a real to detail, complete with legs. We were impressed by all of the sculptures and have invited the Young Farmers to display them at our site at Great Witchingham.

Evelyn Edwards, General Manager of Agriculture, says of the challenge “This has been a great opportunity to support these local young farmers as they are of course our future. It also gives us the chance to introduce farmers to a rural business like ourselves, which proudly supports its local farming community.”
