Baste your turkey

Baste if needed

If cooking an unbasted turkey, then brush the skin with melted butter or oil if desired.

If cooking our Golden Norfolk Turkey or our Turkey Crown, which are self basting, then there is no need to brush with oil or butter or baste during cooking.

To ensure your turkey is completely cooked, insert a clean skewer into the thickest part of the thigh. When cooked, the juices should run clear, if pinkish, return to the oven and cook for a little longer.

Transfer to a serving dish

Once you are happy your turkey is completely cooked, carefully transfer it to your warm serving dish. Cover with foil and allow the turkey to stand for 30 minutes to rest before carving. This allows time for the juices to come to the surface, making the meat moist and succulent.
Dispose oil and grease properly

Dispose of oil and grease

If you have any oil or grease left in the pan after cooking your turkey, please dispose of his responsibly as it can cause bad smells and blockages in your sink pipes.

The best way to dispose of oil and grease is to leave it to cool, scrape into a sealable container, then either take to a household waste- recycling centre or bin it.
